Beliefs

We believe…

… that Christianity revolves around a person (Jesus), the “good news” (the Gospel) of his life, death, and resurrection, and the grand story of Redemption he invites us into (as found in the Bible).

We believe…

… that God is both real and personal, not an impersonal force.

Therefore, our lives can have significance, meaning, and purpose.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in its original manuscripts. The Bible is the infallible revelation of God's truth, contains all that we need to know for salvation, and is therefore authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

The Trinity

We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Human Beings

We believe that all human beings are created in the (very) good image of God, yet as a result of the sinful rebellion of our first parents, all of us are sinners and none of us are able save ourselves from God's righteous displeasure, except by His mercy.

The Person of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation. We believe that Jesus will bodily and visibly return to judge all mankind, receive His people to Himself, and finally restore all that was broken and lost by the Fall.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ - he lived the life we should’ve lived and died the death we should’ve died so that we could find life in Him. This salvation is based solely on God’s grace, not on any individual merit or foreseen faith. It is the Holy Spirit who gives God’s people the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.

The Church

We believe that the church is the broken-but-beloved people of God — his “treasured possession,” saved by Christ, and founded on the witness of the Apostles. In Christ and among his Church, we can experience a foretaste of the significance, meaning, and purpose we were both originally created for and look forward to enjoying in the New Heavens and New Earth (Rev 21). It is uniquely in local congregations that we worship God, grow in Christ’s likeness, and love our neighbors as ourselves.

Denominations

We believe that denominational affiliation, rather than being a source of division or exclusion, is a thoroughly biblical means of being tangibly connected to the global church, leverage combined resources for the good of our community, and hold ourselves accountable to God’s Word. The Table is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, a denomination committed to seeing the Gospel transform all of life from the inside-out. As a PCA church, we believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith (1646), is a reliable and helpful summary of biblical, historic Christian teachings subordinate to Scripture.
